    IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor
The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel. As the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow. This is in contrast to typical carburetors that utilize this air from the “dirty” side of the air box.

    Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.

    STIHL Quickstop®
STIHL chainsaws are equipped with a chain stopping system designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations. It is called a STIHL Quickstop® chain brake. The STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is designed to stop the rotation of the chain if activated by the operator’s hand or by inertia if the saw kicks back with sufficient force. In some working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia, stopping the chain within fractions of a second.

    Ematic™ Lubrication System
The Ematic™ guide bar, when used with STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain, will provide proper lubrication and less oil consumption than conventional methods. The system works because two ramps, strategically placed in the guide bar rail, help contain the flow of oil and direct all lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links as well as the rivets and driver holes, which in turn can reduce bar oil consumption up to 50%.

Important Information
WARNING! The occurrence called “kickback” can cause serious or fatal injury. Always read the instruction manual carefully before using your saw. STIHL uses a green and yellow color-coding system to help you select a powerhead, bar and chain combination that complies with the kickback requirements of ANSI Standard B175.1 (gasoline-powered saws) and §30 of UL 1662/ ANSI Standard B175.1 (electric chainsaws). Ask your STIHL dealer about safe operating procedures and the advantages of the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake, STIHL Quickstop® Plus (Q) additional chain braking feature, STIHL reduced kickback bars and STIHL low-kickback saw chains.

STIHL recommends the use of green reduced kickback bars and green low kickback chains on all STIHL chainsaws.
* The actual listed guide bar length can vary from the effective cutting length based on which powerhead it is installed on.
Note: STIHL recommends use of fuel with no more than 10% Ethanol content. Using fuel with greater than 10% Ethanol content may cause damage to your equipment and may void your STIHL warranty. Learn More…

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mistake Stihl has many great saws until the ms 201 Tcm. Why change the formula whn you done figured it out long ago. Whn I bought it I told the salesman I just don’t know about this ideal with this saw. So it sits ,now I use 355 no problems .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT SAW. I waited a year or longer for Stihl to work the bugs out of it and started talking to climbers for a few large tree company's in my area.Asked them if Stihl got the bugs out of this saw.The answer's were all positive they said this is the only saw they use for climbing. They love the power and fuel economy. So that was what I was waiting for bought one and love it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from BUY 2, Starting Issues The saw always started first or second pull, and worked beyond expectation, however if I turned the saw off, there was no chance at re-starting the saw. After waiting a unknown amount of time - overnight - the saw would once again start flawlessly, and perform beyond expectation. However, if I turned it off for any reason, I would have to wait overnight to use it again, or an hour or two.I kicked the saw in after owning it for a year. I liked the saw so much for in tree use, that I am tempted to buy it again to see if I have the same problem. This was my first saw, ever, and I am not sure if the 3 tank break in period was the cause, or if I ran the chain too tight the first couple of tanks. What ever the cause, the saw is in my garage with the handle all kicked in.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good climbing saw, would like a bit more power. A very good climbing saw. Has been very reliable starting and running but doesn't have quite as much power as I was hoping for. A good saw that is, for the most part, worth the investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My third saw of this make. I have owned the last 3 generations of this saw. My last 020 just started having problems and it is 11 years old. The new saw has the power and weight ratio nailed. It is comfortable to use for hours. I preferred the twist on fuel and oil caps but not a big deal. The only minor issue I have from the saw after 2 weeks of working with it is that I have to choke it almost every start. It may be due to a break in period. I don't remember if that was the case with my previous saws. Once they were running for a couple minutes, there was no need to choke and they would typically start on the first pull.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good reliable saw couldn't do my job without it Very good reliable saw couldn't do my job without it i've had my still for a year now still runs as good as the day I bought it I use it every day this little saw made me a lot of money I had my last limbing saw was I stihl as well I used it daily for 13 years I'm sure I will get the that much use out of this saw as well

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good saw but those carbs suck So I have three of these saws with 16" barsThey are used daily and year round. They are powerful and smooth. After less than a year I had to put a new carb in one. The technician I talked to says that he's replaced more than 10 carbs in the ms201tc this year and that the computer is useless to get information from. Some things that need improvement -the air filter cover sucks. It's brittle-the m tronic carb is prone to failure and needs replacement These problems shouldn't be happening with stihl products
